Welcome to this edition of your club newsletter BIBC news 2019 september agm the agm has come and gone a grand total of 83 members attended i can only say that this was not a great turnout with a membership of over 900 i ask myself why do members not attend their own agm is it that they dont care not interested or is it because they are happy with the way the club is run i wish i knew anyway those who did attend voted down the committees proposals regarding the increase in subscriptions instead they did agree to an increase of £10 making the annual subscription for full members £70 for the incoming season rink fees remain at £225 per person per hour can i just add that the cost of bowling at bibc remains cheap compared to many other sports committee at the september meeting of the clubs management committee the various sub committees were elected a full list of these is posted on the secretarys noticeboard on the bottom green british isles the club will once again host the british isles championships and uk home international series in 2021 now this may seem far away but i can assure you that planning for this prestigious event will start before christmas restaurant we welcome a new restaurateur to the club in carl gordon and his partner dorta i know you will all give him and his staff time to settle in but i think you will enjoy his new menu special offers all current members when you rejoin for the new season will receive a sheet outlining many new offers a big one is if you prepay £100 at the start of the season this will allow you to play casually for the whole season remember too that the fee for under 18s is nothing and only £10 per year thereafter coaching the new seasons coaching for beginners starts on monday october 14th at 715pm for an 8 week run wednesday rinks our popular wednesday afternoon league starts on october 16th please register at 345 pm to start at 4pm parking can i remind all members that the car park at the front of the club is reserved for disabled bowlers and committee members please respect this housekeeping a note from our caretaker who looks after the greens please dont throw wet cloths or chamois onto the carpets they leave a stain another point please dont leave a lot of material on top of the lockers as i get older i realise 1 i talk to myself because sometimes i need expert advice 2 sometimes i roll my eyes outloud 3 i dont need anger management i need people to stop pissing me off 4 my people skills are fine its my tolerance of idiots that needs work 5 the biggest lie i tell myself is i dont need to write that down ill remember it 6 when i was a child i thought that naptime was a punishment now its like a mini vacation 7 the day the world runs out of wine is just too terrible to think about 8even duct tape cant fix stupid but it can muffle the sound 9 wouldnt it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for 10 minutes come out wrinkle free and three times smaller 10 getting lucky means walking into a room and remembering why im there dates short mat players tour are here on september 14th and 15th other short mat dates saturday october 5th champion of champions saturday october 26th club championship 3 rink saturday november 2nd club championship 2 rink club fundraising we are going to start a monthly club lottery open to members only first prize would be £400 with 2 runnersup prizes of £50 subject to a minimum number of 70 players the cost would be £10 per month payable to the reception staff with draws taking place on the 28th of each month starting october and running until march we also plan to run a last man standing competition starting with premier league fixtures running on weekend of the 19th20thoctober the cost to enter will be £10 per person with 50 of the takings going to the eventual winner more details to follow editor
